Group Rewards
Whole group rewards motivate the class to learn to function well as a whole. I expect my classroom to behave just as wonderfully in Music, P.E., Library, and Technology as they normally do in my classroom. Therefore the Specialists know that a classroom helper will be asked at the end of the period whether they earned a red, yellow, or green day.
- Red day means they had an awful day and the class (or a few individuals who caused the red day) will lose value time - usually 30 minutes of recess, plus a call home or to the parents work.
- Yellow day means that they were "ok" - with a few misbehaviors. Again 20 minutes of "value time" will be taken away.
- Geen Day means that they were super and deserve to put a sticker on our "gumball" sticker chart (there are about 50 spots). Once the gumball chart is filled with stickers they earn what is called a "Green Day" party. This means they get to plan an afternoon worth of activities. This ranges from games to movies. We also have a "Read-in" during the morning if possible.
